Black in Focus Relaunch
Black in Focus Relaunch
We started Black In Focus back in 2022 with a mission - to create film nights where everyone can enjoy Black British films that aren't the same old slavery, gang crime, drug dealing, and black struggle storylines that big cinema loves to show. And, wow, the nights are a whole vibe - full of fun, friendships and great films! Now, due to our growing audience, we've had to move from Mayflower Studios to a new venue. And it's one we've wanted to work with for a very long time: the stunning, waterfront cinema, Harbour Lights Picturehouse, in Southampton's prestigious Ocean Village.

About the film: Pansy (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) is a woman wracked by fear, tormented by afflictions, and prone to raging tirades against her husband, son, and anyone who looks her way.
Meanwhile, her easygoing younger sister Chantal (Michele Austin) is a single mother, her life brimming with communal warmth from her salon clients and daughters alike. But things between the two of them come to a head over the course of one Mother’s Day weekend.
A true legend of contemporary British cinema, Mike Leigh returns to the modern world with his first feature in six years: a fierce, humorous and compassionate study of family and the thorny ties that bind us.
