Star Stories: celebrating St Deny’s Activity Group

In the second of our Star Stories, we’re shining a light on St Deny’s Activity Group.

It’s one of our wonderful ‘Stars for Stars’ winners from our summer quarter.

‘Keep it kind’

St Deny’s was anonymously nominated for award recognition in celebration of the incredible work it’s doing to make Southampton a more connected and mental health-friendly place.

Our Stars for Stars initiative showcases organisations that ‘keep it kind’ and promote positive mental wellbeing in our community.

Empower members

St Deny’s is a non-profit organisation that aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by providing activities for mental wellness, which offer mutual support, good times and a listening ear.

Its mission is to prevent social exclusion and empower members of the community who are experiencing mental health issues.

The team at St Denys said that being nominated was a wonderful acknowledgment of the hard work everyone involved puts in every day at a grassroots level.

Incredible boost

They said: “To be nominated for a star gives us an incredible boost. We’re also hoping this will act as more publicity for our group.”

For St Deny’s, initiatives like Stars for Stars are more than just awards – they’re opportunities to raise awareness.

Share good practice

St Deny’s also believes these awards demonstrate that the city is starting to come together to share good practices and create a mental health-friendly environment.

“It is proof we are connecting with each other and sharing good examples with the rest of Southampton communities.

“We work hard to run the group and will continue to do so in the future. This nomination gives us the encouragement to carry on.”
